Keep your online sales in the currency you earn

Stop your payment processor from converting every sale at its own rate. Receive in USD, EUR or GBP, then convert when it suits your cash flow.

How can I avoid automatic currency conversion on my online payouts?

Many payment processors and marketplaces convert foreign sales into your home currency automatically, at their own rate. A multi-currency account gives you local account details in other currencies. Where your platform lets you choose a payout account in the sale currency, you can have your sales paid out unconverted. You then hold the balance, convert when you choose, and pay suppliers directly from it. Check your platform's payout settings and current pricing before you switch.

Who this is for

Online stores selling abroad
You sell to customers in the US, Europe or the UK and are paid through a payment processor that converts each sale.
Marketplace and platform sellers
Your payouts arrive in batches and in several currencies, and you want control over when and how they are converted.
Sellers who pay suppliers in the currency they earn
If you earn US dollars and pay suppliers in US dollars, you can avoid converting twice and paying a spread both ways.

How it works with FinXtra

1
Free 20-minute FX analysis
We review where your sales come from, which currencies you are paid in and where your suppliers are.
2
Open your account
Opening an account is free. You get local account details in the currencies you need, subject to onboarding approval.
3
Point your payouts to it
Add the new account as your payout destination in your platform's settings, where the platform supports it.
4
Hold, convert and pay
Hold the balance, convert to your home currency when the rate suits you, or pay suppliers from it.

Control your cash flow, not just your fees

When your payouts stay in the currency you earned, you decide when to convert instead of accepting a default rate on every payout. You can use dollar or euro earnings to pay dollar or euro suppliers directly. And if you know revenue is coming, forward contracts and limit orders give you ways to plan around the rate. Ask us which fits your sales pattern.

What you gain

Choose your conversion timing
Convert when the rate and your cash flow suit you, not when a payout happens to land.
Pay suppliers from the balance
Use what you earn in a currency to pay costs in the same currency, with fewer conversions.
Lock or target a rate
Fix the rate for revenue you expect with a forward contract, or aim for a rate with a limit order.
See the full cost
Check your processor's current conversion pricing and compare it with the rate and cost we show you before you commit.

Which payout accounts a platform accepts depends on the platform and your account type. Check before you switch, and ask us if you want help.

Multi-currency payouts: common questions

Can I receive PayPal or Stripe payouts in USD without conversion?

Many platforms let you choose a payout currency or a bank account in the sale currency. Stripe, for example, offers multi-currency settlement in selected countries, including the US, the UK and the EU, and you attach a bank account in each currency. If your platform allows it, a FinXtra multi-currency account can provide account details in that currency. Availability depends on the country of your platform account.

Which payment processors work with this?

It depends on the processor, the country of your account and your account type. Stripe offers multi-currency settlement in selected countries, and other platforms have their own rules. Ask your adviser and we help you check before you switch.

How much could I save?

It depends on your processor's conversion rate, your volumes and your timing. We show you the full cost of our conversion so you can compare it with your processor's current pricing.

Can I pay my suppliers from the balance?

Yes. You can pay suppliers directly from a currency balance, which can avoid an extra conversion when you earn and spend in the same currency.

Can I lock a rate for revenue I expect to receive?

Forward contracts let you lock a rate for up to five years, depending on the currency pair. We confirm the terms during your analysis.

How fast will my payments arrive?

Payouts from your platform follow its own payout schedule. Payments you send from your FinXtra balance can often arrive the same day, but timing depends on the time of day you book them, the currency pair and the corridor, which determine the payment rail used.

Are there account opening fees?

Opening an account is completely free, and you get full access to the platform.

Is FinXtra regulated?

FinXtra works with Ebury, which provides the payment and foreign exchange services. Ebury Canada is registered with FINTRAC, and all client funds are held with Ebury Canada in line with regulatory standards. See the regulatory disclosure at the bottom of this page for the US, UK and Mexico.

Payment and foreign exchange services are provided by Ebury under its terms and conditions. Availability of currencies, accounts and products depends on the route, the amount and your onboarding. Exchange rates move, so the amount you pay or receive depends on the rate when you transact. This page is general information, not financial advice.
