How do I pay for property in another currency?

When you buy property abroad, the price, the deposit and the closing costs are in the local currency, while your money is in another. The exchange rate on each transfer changes what the purchase really costs you. FinXtra helps you send each payment in the right currency at transparent rates, with a full breakdown of costs, including any currency markup, before you commit. If your payment date is known, you can lock the rate in advance. Selling property abroad? We help you convert the proceeds and bring them home at transparent rates.

Who we help

Buyers of vacation or investment property abroad
You pay a deposit and closing costs in a foreign currency, often in stages.
Buyers with a known payment date
A forward contract can lock the rate for a payment you know is coming, up to five years ahead. That suits off-plan and pre-construction purchases.
Owners with costs and income abroad
Pay taxes and maintenance in the local currency, and ask us about collecting rent in a currency account.

4
Lock or time the rate
Lock a rate with a forward contract, or set a target with a limit order.

Lock the rate for your closing date

If you know when a payment is due, a forward contract fixes the exchange rate in advance, so the price in your own currency stops moving. A limit order lets you set a target rate and trade automatically when the market reaches it. Hedging works in both directions, so you give up gains as well as losses. Ask us which suits your timeline.
