International payments: common questions
How do I send an international payment?
Once your account is open and your requirements are finalized, you fund the transaction on the platform and we execute it. You can send a single payment or pay multiple recipients in one batch.
How can I fund a payment?
Options include bill payments, electronic funds transfers, bank wire transfers and pre-authorized direct debits. For security and regulatory compliance, cheques and cash are not accepted.
Can several people use the account, with approvals?
Yes. Administrators can add as many users as you need, set custom access levels, build approval workflows and require dual authorization (the four-eyes principle) before funds are released.
Are there account opening fees?
Opening an account is completely free, and you get full access to the platform.
Why are your rates better than my bank's preferential rates?
Banks often waive small transaction fees but keep a wide markup on the exchange rate itself, which is where the real cost sits. We give you access to wholesale FX liquidity usually reserved for large corporations, with transparent, market-linked pricing.
Which currencies can I pay in?
You have access to over 135 currencies with your account. Contact us to confirm availability for the currency you need.
Is FinXtra regulated?
FinXtra works with Ebury, which provides the payment and foreign exchange services. Ebury Canada is registered with FINTRAC, and all client funds are held with Ebury Canada in line with regulatory standards. See the regulatory disclosure at the bottom of this page for the US, UK and Mexico.
Payment and foreign exchange services are provided by Ebury under its terms and conditions. Exchange rates move, so the amount you pay or receive depends on the rate when you transact. This page is general information, not financial advice.
